R.I.P. Frank Frazetta 1928-2010
Legendary artist and living legend Frank Frazetta passed away today. He was 82.
Frank Frazetta, the great painter of fantasy book covers, has died. The artist, most closely associated with Robert E. Howard’s “Conan the Barbarian” character, was the subject of the 2003 documentary “Frazetta: Painting With Fire.” After a series of strokes, Frazetta trained himself to paint using his left hand. His signature work often featured bare-chested “sword and sorcery” heroes, helpless women and fantasy creatures. His paintings often sell in the million-dollar range. Frazetta was 82.

Frazetta’s work will always be proof that we had in our lifetime a talented artist who moved from one medium to another. From comic strips to oil painting of fantasy art, Frank showed us that with an open mind and determination, it is possible to become a master of your craft. Come to think of it even at the last years of his life he still showed us that even a master like him should constantly learn new things (painting with his left hand).
